Rolling 17″ laptop bags can be hard to find but not impossible.   The first thing you will want to do when shopping for a rolling laptop bag for your 17″ laptop is measure the dimensions of your computer.   Some of the 17″ laptops today will not fit into a bag that is advertised to hold “most 17″ laptops”.    For example, I have an HP Pavilion dv6 1280US and many of the “17″ laptop bags” will not hold my computer.    The issue in this case is that the battery protrudes from the back surface of the computer making it impossible to fit in some bags.

Some online stores will try to give some assistance in helping you find a bag that will fit your computer. Ebags, for example, has an online database (Laptop Bag Finder) where you can enter your computer model and then shop for bags. When you select a bag for more details, they will let you know if it will fit your computer model.

If you travel with your laptop often, you’ll want to stay up to date on the latest security requirements for laptop computers.  If you have a laptop computer bag that is security or checkpoint friendly, then may not need to remove your computer from it bag when going through security.  However, given the ever changing security procedures, the requirements can change at anytime.
